Can you believe it? I’m kind of in shock that I’ve been writing this blog for TEN years! As I wrote last year, blogs are basically dead at this point, but I’m not ready to move on from mine just yet! It still brings me so much joy to document my favourite recipes here and I love being able to see what I was into during any given time over the past ten years.
I am definitely not feeling up to the task of selecting my favourite recipes of the past decade, so instead, here are my five faves from the last year, most viewed posts, and a few things I want to do this year:
My Favourite 5 Posts of the Last Year:
- Chocolate Blackout Sheet Cake – far and away my favourite treat of the whole year. A rich chocolate sheet cake covered with chocolate fudge sauce and sprinkled with chocolate crumbles.
- Ultimate S’more Cake & S’mores Cheesecake – I can’t decide between these two outstanding s’mores treats, so they’re tied for second place.
- Strawberry Rhubarb Crumb Pie – no lie, the best pie I have made in my whole life. I can’t wait to make it again this summer.
- Banana Chocolate Chip Cake with Cream Cheese Filling – this was so good and everyone at work FREAKED out over it.
- Bits & Bites – I just posted about this, but the nostalgia factor is so high, it automatically enters the Top 5 of the year!
It was also a fun year for travel, and I blogged about all my trips:
- LA (best pastries of my life at Tartine!)
- Vegas (still think about my bucatini from Giada on a weekly basis)
- NYC (is it time to go back yet?)
Finally, let’s have a look at the traditional recap stats:
Top 5 Most Viewed Posts {from the last year}:
- Baklava Babka
- Jon & Vinny’s Spicy Fusilli

- Baked Sunday Mornings: Milk Chocolate Malt Ball Cake

I had such a fun year baking for my new co-workers and bringing treats in for our snack station. As always, there are still so many things I want to bake, and there never seems to be enough time to make it all! In 2020 I want to: have my friends over to celebrate 10 years of Planet Byn (and re-make some recipes from that first year of blogging), bring back YEASTER and Friendsgiving, have an Alison Roman dinner party (if I can get over my fear of anchovies), finally make Crack Pie and no-knead bread (10 years later!) and make another wedding cake! This is also the year that Baked Sunday Mornings is coming to an end, so I’d also like to explore some new groups or challenges to join.
Blogs may be dead, but this one will keep going!
