Quick post here on Paulette’s Original Donuts & Chicken. I read a review on Toronto Life the week before Danielle’s visit, and quickly added it to our schedule. I had the most amazing donuts of my life at The Doughnut Plant in NYC in ’09 and Jelly last summer in Calgary, so I thought we should see how this joint measured up.

Slight problem though. I’m a life-long yeast donut fan. My family had a post-church Tim Horton’s stop almost every Sunday of my childhood, and I alternated between the following: Chocolate Dip, Honey Dip, Sugar Twist, Maple Dip. Never really been a cakey donut fan.

The donuts at Paulette’s are all cake. Pretty standard, except they’re dipped in some interesting glazes that you can see above. Danielle tried the Root Beer Float (just some root beer in the glaze) and I tried the Cinnamon Latte. I was underwhelmed. I am intrigued however by the Snack Pack of fried chicken and maple sugar donut holes…reminds me of Chicken & Waffles. I’ll be making a return trip to investigate!
