I’ve been inspired by my friend Carole to do a round-up of the various food-related goings-on in my life for July, aside from what you see here in my blog posts. See, I actually had a social life in July after a huge project at work launched at the beginning of the month, so that’s very exciting. Carole’s doing a weekly recap, but I don’t think I can commit to that, so let’s give this a try and see how it goes. Bullet-style, natch:

  • I started the month by going to see our old friend Chuck Hughes on his book tour stop at the Toronto Public Library. Always a crowd pleaser. You can actually watch the interview here. Love.
  • I resumed Sunday morning trips to the Square One Farmer’s Market, and have been scooping up cherries and blueberries like, whoa.
  • To be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of Summerlicious (cue all my friends rolling their eyes as I tell the story of being served a frozen burger at Brassaii Summerlicious like 7 years ago), but decided not to be a party pooper when I was invited out this year. First up was Stock in Trump Tower for lunch with my friend Heather. The highlight of my meal was the watermelon & feta salad starter, plus the little folding stool thing the waiter brings you to set your purse on.
  • Next up for Summerlicous was Banu, with a group of co-workers. Many delicious cocktails, a huge vodka selection, and amazing Iranian food.
  • I made this Thai Peanut Chicken Salad from Bev Cooks like three times, and I’m kind of obsessed.
  • I cleaned out my baking cupboard and with the bits & pieces I found, I made these Oreo Magic Bars and some Fluffernutter Rice Krispie Squares (threw in some crushed pretzels) and brought them to work and gave everyone a sugar rush.
  • Beyonce, Jay Z and baby Blue had lunch in Toronto at Cafe Nervosa! I went to both Justin & Jay Z’s show AND Beyonce’s too. Not food-related, but they’re my faves!
  • Momofuku Milk Bar opened in Toronto! Nicole and I had a picnic at Osgoode Hall (she made kale salad, I made roasted beet & farro salad), and then headed over for dessert. We shared a slice of Crack Pie ($6) and I picked up half a dozen cookies to bring back to the office ($11). Not too impressed that the treats aren’t baked fresh on-site, though.
  • Who knew Rosewater Supper Club had a happy hour on Thursdays? Not me, but my co-worker sure did and we went over. $5 glasses of Sangria are a pretty good way to ease into Friday.
  • I finally got an iPhone and immediately got Instagram! So excited! So there will be pictures to share when I do this recap in August!
  • This week we had a mini FBC reunion at Celli’s Osteria for the Taste of Burlington event. So much fun catching up with Heather (#TheTastyG), Rhonda, Meg, Jenny and Alex. Next up: ROAD TRIP to St. Jacob’s!
