Right now I’m sitting on my couch, waiting for Kristine’s sister Chi to come over for our second personal training session. These doughnuts are only part of the reason why.
At the beginning of the month I took a quick trip out west to visit with my WCBFFs, and this basically turned into a 4 day sugar bender, for which I am now paying the price. But let’s not ruin our talk of treats with thoughts of what I’ll be doing in half an hour (lunging, squating, sweating, swearing).
Julie first mentioned these doughnuts on Twitter a few months ago, and I knew this would be my first stop on my first day in Calgary. After a delicious breakfast at Diner Deluxe with Danielle and Gwendolyn (we finally got to meet in person!), we drove over to Jelly Modern Doughnuts for dessert. Dessert after breakfast? Yes. That’s the kind of trip this was.
I think I’ll let pictures tell you the rest of the story (in order – Vanilla, Chocolate, Lemon, Coconut, Maple Bacon, S’mores, Peanut Butter and Salted Caramel):
My choices were three mini doughnuts: Peanut Butter, S’mores & Salted Caramel. They were all amazing, but I think the S’mores was my favourite.
If I lived in Calgary, I would have my birthday party here, with a cake made out of doughnuts, and big pitchers of cold milk. Hooray!

August 30, 2011 9:06 pmLOVE! I would have had a vanilla, salted caramel, and the s’mores! I just read all your Calary posts and I really regret never making my way out there when Catherine lived in Alberta. 🙁
