Malted Milk Sandwich Cookies

I’m currently at the tail end (I hope) of a cold that has now robbed me of my sense of taste. This is the worst part of having a cold for me. I start pondering all kinds of crazy things, like what if I lost my tastebuds PERMANENTLY? Will I ever get BETTER? Is it possible for Gillian Flynn to write a book that does not give me NIGHTMARES?

Anyway, I still made these cookies and it was like torture to pull them out of the oven, and not be able to smell all the lovely baking smells that usually pour out. I ate one too, and it was just so sad, because I couldn’t even imagine what they would taste like. I found with the other recipes with malt powder from the Baked Boys (Brewer’s Blondies from the first book, these Malted Waffles) that the malt flavour isn’t really that pronounced. So I will freeze these cookies, and report back in a few days to tell you my thoughts on that.

I guess the only thing I can comment on is that they look really cute, like a homemade golden Oreo. And with that it’s back to the couch with a box of Kleenex and Season 3 of Sons of Anarchy.
