Well this is going to be a quick one since the month was bookended by my Pacific Northwest adventure and a weekend in NYC (more coming on that soon!). I didn’t cook or go out too much in between, but here are few noteworthy eats:

  • I went to Chris & Debbie’s for Easter, and Debbie asked me to bring Brussels Sprouts, so I made this recipe again, except without the Yogurt-Tahini Dressing which I wasn’t sure would go over too well with that crowd.
  • For my own personal YEASTER tradition, I made the Challah Cheesecake Buns from Smitten Kitchen Keepers (pictured above), which are a challah dough rolled up with sweet cream cheese and raspberry jam. They were good, but super messy, and most of my raspberry oozed out. I would make these again but use less jam to try to keep most of it inside!
  • As mentioned in last month’s round-up, one of my faves from work got a new job, so a few of us went to Donna’s for a farewell dinner. We ordered a whole bunch of things off the menu and shared everything. I liked it all, but to be honest, I could have eaten every single thing we ordered all by myself. The portions were super small and we each got two or three bites of each dish. Alas, the vibes and the company more than made up for it. I would go back, just order way more.
  • Here’s my regular recipe round-up:
  • Stuff I made from the archives: Kale Caesar
  • Some of my favourite go-to dishes: guess I didn’t make any go-tos this month!
  • New things that I tried and liked: Crunchy Roll Bowls (with shrimp instead of tofu)
  • Recipes from Smitten Kitchen Keepers (listing them here instead of blogging about them all separately): Creamy Tomato Chickpea Masala, Challah Cheesecake Buns, Green Angel Hair with Garlic Butter, Whole Lemon Poppy Seed Cake (again)
  • Homemade Snacks: Peanut Butter Energy Bites

Other non-foodie things I was obsessed with this month:

  • I was SO EXCITED for Curtis Sittenfeld’s new book Romantic Comedy, and it did not disappoint! I absolutely loved it, and while I tried to savour it, I ended up binge-reading it over Easter weekend. I already want to read it again! I also read Pineapple Street in a few days, and it was laugh out loud funny, and just a quick, cute read. I took Beach Read with me to the PNW because I needed a small paperback, but I’ve decided Emily Henry is just not for me. Finally, after I couldn’t really get into the Daisy Jones show, I read The Final Revival of Opal & Nev, which is also an oral-history style book, but it was only okay.
  • Air: Courting a Legend was so amazing (basically a movie about marketing…heh…) but loved the story about how Nike signed Michael Jordan before his rookie season. It also inspired me to re-watch The Last Dance which was the best re-watch.
