My brother Joel texted me back at the beginning of June: “Dessert Person banana bread out today, may have to put it up against mom’s banana muffins”. I immediately got excited about a Banana Bread face-off/blind taste test/throwdown because our Mom’s Banana Muffins are THE BEST. We’ve been eating them our whole lives, so I knew it would be hard for that nostalgic comfort to get taken down by any other banana recipe.
But then I watched the video and realized Claire’s recipe is a totally different thing. She’s got all kinds of non-traditional ingredients in her Banana Bread: almond butter, coconut oil, Greek yogurt, and even cardamom (which I loathe, you can swap in cinnamon instead). I was still interested in trying it, but I knew it would automatically fail when compared to My Favourite.
And that’s exactly what happened. Of course this recipe is delicious, it’s just not what I’m looking for out of my Banana treats. Give it a try though and see what you think!

Note: I ordered a gigantic 3lb box of Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt online, but if you don’t have it, just use regular salt and cut the measurement in half for these recipes.
