Fries Supreme

There was a Taco Bell up the street from my high school, and according to some cryptic notes in my yearbooks from Alexis and Kristine, we were regular customers. None of us really remembers going there that often, but I guess it went down (or else it was code for something else??).

Anyway, in my ongoing mission to pretend that cooking junk food at home makes it okay, I made some homemade fries supreme last week. No real recipe here, I just scrubbed some russets, sliced them into fry shapes, tossed them with a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper, and roasted in the oven until they were done (425, for about 45 minutes or so?).

The fun part is what you decide to smother them with. In my case, grated cheddar, low fat sour cream, crumbled turkey bacon, and some chopped chives. I love how in the picture you can barely see the potatoes. Not really health food by any means, but probably a little better than hittin’ the TB Drive-Thru, right? Jessica has some other ideas for these over on How Sweet It Is, and she calls hers Baked Potato Nachos, which makes sense when you think about it.

Alright y’all, we’re quickly coming to the end of the baking hiatus here on Planet Byn, culminating in a few posts with Leianne’s wicked birthday cupcakes. Hang in there!

sounds more like taters’n’cream from licks than TB fries supreme because its bacon instead of ‘taco meat filling’… looks very tasty either way!
